My Orlando visit…

by Rajesh Natarajan

It was a nice break after I came to US. In fact we dont commonly have a concept of vacation in India. Even in long weekends, I just go to my native Madurai. One of the Good things that I picked up from US is vacations and the first vacation itself was a great location. Why I choose orlando, Florida was a different story. My wife submitted a research paper to IJCNN  as part of her Ph.D., program and was due to attend and present the paper in an international Conference. Hence orlando :)

Amidst her tight schedules to Conference, we found time to go to these great places. Aashirwad restaurant @ I-Drive gave us superb buffet everyday at $8.00

How to configure HUAWEI SmartAX MT841 for BSNL Broadband

by Rajesh Natarajan

This is the step by step procedure on how to configure BSNL Type IV (MT841) modem for autodial and wireless setup.

First do not insert the WLAN card in to your modem. Connect it with supplied LAN cable or via usb.

Now in you browser window open up the configuration screen of MT841.
IP: 192.168.1.1
username: admin
password: admin

In the left side expand basic from a + symbol and select connections.
Then you can see PVC0 to PVC6. Now you only need to change the value of PVC0 to dial up the connection automatically with PPPoE setup. But some how you can not edit the connection of PVC0 by clicking the note icon on the configuration screen. It will only let you change the settings for wich the PVC is created and let you delete it. so you need to delete all the PVC in the list. Stat from PVC6 press notes icon and delete.

Do the same process and delete from PVC6 to PVC1. Do not delete PVC0.
Now press the new button and create new PVC specify following parametere in the PVC

WAN Type : PPPoE
VPI/VCI : 0/35
Encapsulation : LLC
Default Route : Enable
User Name : <Your BSNL Dataone User Name>
Password : <your password >
use DNS : Enable

Now click on apply. It will show new PVC and it display it as PVC1.Start create remaining PVC for your connection by pressing new.

All PVC shoud have following property.

Wan Type : Bridge
Encapsulation : LLC

and for VPI/VCI follow this steps

PVC1 : 8 /35
PVC2 : 0 /100
PVC3 : 0 /32
PVC4 : 8 /81
PVC5 : 8 / 32
PVC6 : 14 / 24

now you have created all the PVC’s with you dialer configured at PVC1.

Go to advanced -> select Firewall -> select enable.
Go to DNS -> select Enable and enter following values in the dns

Primary DNS : 61.1.96.69
Secondry DNS : 61.1.96.71

Save your change and reboot the router.

After reboot you should be automatically connect to the internet without dialing PPPoE dialer from the computer. Now turn off the router and connect the WLAN Card to the router and disconnect the LAN cable from the modem and computer. After you see the WLAN light on in the router stat your WIFI connection from computer or modem to search for availabe network and you will be connected to the net.
It is as easy as this :)

My search for a car…. Ends!!!

by Rajesh Natarajan

car11.jpg

Atlast, my search for a car ended in Atlanta, after a month of rigorous search involving 1000 miles of travel :o ; I got this white 04 Toyota Corolla Sport Model for a very good deal. Came back from Atlanta to Montgomery and the mileage was 36/gallon. ;) This is the highest as per the standard highway ratings issued by the U.S Department of Energy. Let me see how much does this Corolla give inside city.

I should thank  for getting me this car. This would be a good place to search for used cars. I should also thank Harish (my Apt. neighbour) for helping me visit lot of places despite his busy schedule. Below are some pics.

Shakku puzzle after a long time :)

by Rajesh Natarajan

Its been long time since I had worked on these types of puzzle during my fresher days, for myself… and to ask when I go for campus recruitments for my company.

Scenario:
There is a bus with 7 girls inside,
Each girl has 7 bags,
Inside each bag, there are 7 Big cats,
Each Big cat has 7 small cats,
All cats have 4 Legs each!

Question:   How many Legs are there inside the bus?

See attached file: cat_legs_answer.xls. The total number of Legs would be the password for this file ;)
If you can’t open the file, the answer you obtained is wrong.

Good luck!!!
